Un cutremur cu magnitudinea 7,6 (MWW) s-a produs miercuri, 6 iulie 2011, la ora 22:03 (ora României), în Kermadec Islands. Hipocentrul a fost localizat la 17 km adâncime, ceea ce îl face un cutremur superficial.
Poate produce distrugeri grave pe suprafețe mari.
